FAQs - Answers to All Your Tire Service Questions

Do you have questions about your car's tires? Our Jeff Wyler Honda Auto Mall dealership is here to help.

What Are the Different Types of Tires Available and How Do I Choose the Right Tires?

There are several tire options, with tires for every season, performance experience, and type of vehicle. You'll first want to determine what size tires fit your car, truck, SUV, or van. From there, you'll want to consider what type of tire matches your specific environment, driving habits, and preferences. You could buy winter tires, all-season tires, performance tires, off-roading tires, and more.

What Do the Numbers on the Sidewall Mean?

The numbers on the sidewall of every tire is the tire code. It may look something like -P215/65R15 95H. This code can be translated as: tire type (P), tire width (215 mm), tire aspect ratio (65), tire construction type (R), wheel diameter (15 inches), load index (95), and speed rating (H).

How Often Should I Rotate My Tires?

If you're not changing your tires over for each season, you should have them rotated every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.

What Are the Signs That I Need New Tires?

When should you replace your car's tires? If you've seen any cracks, dings, or bulges, you'll want to have your tires replaced. If the tread depth has reached less than 2/32 inches or your tires can't hold air pressure, these are also good signs that it's time to buy new tires. You'll also want to make the switch if your car's tires are more than six years old.

How Do I Check My Tire Pressure?

It's essential to check each tire's pressure to make sure your tires are in good shape. You can do so by:

  • Finding a tire pressure gauge (many gas stations have one available)
  • Removing the air valve cap on the tire
  • Pressing the tire gauge on the open valve and holding for a second or two (you'll hear a hiss)
  • Reading the pressure gauge and comparing the number to your recommended tire pressure
  • Inflating or deflating accordingly and replacing the valve cap

What Are the Benefits of Tire Balancing and Alignment?

Why should you have your tires balanced and aligned? Not only does it help to make your ride smooth, but it also creates less wear and provides better fuel efficiency.
